Abstract

The image of Latin American soap operas seems frivolous, ironic, comedy and even
ridiculous extravagances. However, in this analysis, Omar Rincón demonstrates a
complex reality reflected in the melodrama. Inquire about the standardized role of
women, men, structure, and gender. Observe how the woman represents strength,
admiration and is the one who manages and leads the man in making decisions; even
when she is hidden by the standards of a "typical" novel. Man, on the contrary, by
showing himself to be macho, strong, confident, and conquering, ends up reflecting
insecurity and cowardice, and finds salvation through woman. Analyze the presence of
class conflict and the desire for social ascent in imaginary and unreal situations taking
aspects of daily life that can "hook" the viewer.
