The evolution of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) is generating an unprecedented shift in the communication landscape. Content, formats, and consumption habits have changed substantially to promote the spread and virality of information. In this new ecosystem, narratives are gaining particular relevance, enabling users to interact with immersive environments. Since the emergence of social media, citizens have migrated to these platforms in search of new entertainment spaces, generating diverse narratives that reinforce a participatory culture. To understand all of this, media and digital literacy is crucial for acquiring the skills and knowledge to use these new formats. This monograph aims to showcase the challenges and opportunities offered by audiovisual narratives in the digital context. For example, it addresses key topics such as new digital roles and profiles (influencers) as information channels; the fandom community as protagonists in storytelling; transmediality and its expanding universe; the normalization of harmful behaviors through popular and viral videos; and film criticism via TikTok. The use of Artificial Intelligence as an immersive tool, among other topics of interest, covers the guidelines of this thematic focus. In this sense, it is important to educate society on the responsible use of media and to strengthen critical thinking in pursuit of an egalitarian and democratic community.
