Textual transformations of the cinematographic character Indiana Jones in the Os Trapalhões comic books: evidence of a Brazilian transmedia storytelling
Main Article Content
Abstract
The article purposes to endorse evidences of a Brazilian transmedia storytelling from the textual transformations of the cinematographic character Indiana Jones (USA) in the Os Trapalhões (Brazil) comic books, an old humorous quartet from the television media. The graphical narratives produced by Abril publishing company between 1991 and 1993 of the group are analyzed, using the concepts of transmedia storytelling, proposed by Henry Jenkins and Carlos Scolari. It is assumed that the graphic narratives of the group provided expanded stories of the television media regardless the aging or death of the artists. The main results indicate that these comic strips collaborated, in an unlicensed way, for the expansion of Indiana Jones movies and were consumed almost exclusively by the Brazilian public; in addition, they made (inter)connections possible with other editions of the Os Trapalhões comic books.
